Our Story, for those who choose to read it:

Once upon a time…

After retiring in the summer of 2011, we sold our house of 12 years, bought “Big Red”, our trusty Ford F350 crew cab 4×4 diesel pickup truck. And towing behind our big red pickup is our current home, a 2007 Forest River Cardinal 33′ 5th wheel RV.

Headed to Colorado

When we sold our home and most of our belongings in August, 2011 we planned our trip to Colorado. First we would meander down the east coast, site-seeing along the way and visiting friends in Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. After seeing our friends, we would plan our trek to Colorado, where our twin daughters live.

First Stop

Our first stop was actually 12 miles from the home we just sold in Rhode Island. Wawaloom Campground became home for 2 weeks while we finalized the details of liquidating ‘stuff’ and prepared for our trip south and then west.

Hurricane Irene

Before we could complete our preparation for our road trip, our plans were interrupted in late August by a mean looking storm bearing down on the North East. Rather than ride out our first hurricane in our newly acquired RV, we decided to ‘hook on’ and get out of Irene’s way. We took-off heading out of Rhode Island, through Connecticut, Massachusetts, and into New York state. So 339 miles later, we settled in River Forest Park Campground, Weedsport, NY. We were hoping that we had gotten far enough west to avoid Irene’s wrath.
